THANK YOU!!!

Thank you to the voters of Arlington, who came out in force yesterday and decisively chose to adopt the Community Preservation Act as both a fiscal tool and a means of promoting quality of life initiatives in our town.

Special thanks are due to the hundreds of people and many organizations who publicly expressed support, including countless volunteers and financial donors. Our coordinating committee’s work was significantly lightened by the dedication and energy that you put forward.

Last night’s result followed several months of robust debate. And -- while there were some strong differences expressed by the opposing campaigns -- there were also some significant areas of common ground upon which we can all look forward to building a better Arlington.

In particular, it was heartening to see so many people across the political spectrum express their strong support for furthering our community’s strong record of financial management; for ensuring that we continue to provide the best possible public services and facilities; and for planning the future of our degraded, but beloved, high school.

By endorsing the Community Preservation Act, we have made a conscious decision to pursue a multi-pronged renewal strategy. We have also provided arrows in the quiver to attack the challenges outlined in the draft Master Plan for Arlington, which will be publicly presented for the first time tomorrow evening.

Arlington has a well-earned reputation as a great place to live and raise a family.

Through your efforts, you have helped to take that reputation up a notch.

With warmest regards,

Joe and Susan
